 27 Year Old Abari Meade Killed By A former Jonesboro police officer : This evening, a former Jonesboro police officer who turned himself in after a fatal collision on the downtown connector is accused with vehicular murder.

The young man’s family is absolutely inconsolable. They claim that after the former cop left the scene, things became worse.

Abari Meade was just twenty-seven. According to his relatives, he was a kind and considerate individual who constantly looked out for others and didn’t deserve what he received.

Desmond Meade, the victim’s uncle, stated, “It’s really taking a toll on all of us since it was so unexpected.” Jabari was engaged in a minor collision on May 27 at around 1:00 p.m., according to Atlanta police. According to an arrest warrant, Abari was actually waiting for an officer to respond to the collision when his automobile was struck by former Jonesboro Police Officer Godreque Newsom Sr., who was heading north.

The 27-year-old resident of Virgin Island was taken by ambulance to Grady Memorial Hospital, but he did not survive his injuries.  The family claims they are extremely offended that a police officer for life would take part in a hit-and-run.

“It is unacceptable for him to act in that manner as a police officer, abandoning my nephew to perish by the side of the road.” The uncle went on, “That’s why this is so unsettling in and of itself.

On Thursday, a magistrate court refused to grant Newsom a release. Meade will be buried in his native Virgin Islands, where his father currently resides. Meade was living in Atlanta with his mother and two siblings.

It’s causing his mother and siblings great distress. I spoke with his father, who is now my brother. He was unable to even talk. He just sobbed over the phone the entire time,
