Bill Hooser Death, Utah, USA, Highway Patrol Trooper Allegedly Killed By Crazy Trailer driver
We regret to notify you of the passing of Utah’s Santaquin Police Department Sergeant Bill Hooser. On Sunday, May 5, 2024, a tractor-trailer that was evading a traffic stop on I-15 close to mile marker 244 in Santaquin struck and killed Sergeant Bill Hooser. At 6:30 in the morning, a traffic stop was started by Sergeant Hooser and a Utah Highway Patrol trooper in response to reports of someone standing on the back of a semi-trailer.
Details of the Incident
The person stole a truck and ran away on foot. After a brief chase, he crashed the truck and was taken into custody. Prior to joining the Santaquin Police Department, Sergeant Hooser worked for two years as a deputy with the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office in New Mexico. His wife, two daughters, and a granddaughter survive him. When the driver struck Sergeant Hooser, his patrol car, and the trooper’s vehicle, he escaped and spun his tractor-trailer around, heading south on the northbound lanes. Sergeant Hooser died at the scene.
It is a terrible thing as contineously, officers are loosing their lives in these situations. The Police and Law enforcement officers need to do something about it, as it is getting out of hand. Officers being killed leaving behind family and loved ones who either depend on them for care by careless, lawless criminals.
