Authorities in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, have identified the bodies of a married couple found in their home over the weekend as Celeste L. Kistler, 78, and Larry A. Kistler, 80.

The Northampton County Coroner, Zachary R. Lysek, confirmed on Tuesday night that both individuals died from gunshot wounds in what has been determined as a murder-suicide.

An autopsy revealed that Larry Kistler’s death was ruled as suicide, while Celeste Kistler’s death was classified as a homicide.

The tragic incident unfolded when police responded to a welfare check request at the couple’s residence on Redfern Lane in Bethlehem on Saturday morning at approximately 9:50 a.m. Bethlehem Police Chief Michelle Kott reported that both bodies were discovered inside the home.

Suicide claims the lives of over 2,000 Pennsylvanians each year (according to the latest statistics) – an average of five (5) lives each day. It is estimated that each suicide directly and intimately affects six people.

Therefore, at least 12,000 Pennsylvanians become survivors of suicide each year who have lost a loved one, friend, co-worker, classmate, or someone in the community to suicide.
