Who was Craig Barhorst?

Craig Edward Barhorst was born on May 6, 1986, in St. Marys. He was the beloved son of Bob and Tammy (Brown) Barhorst. On June 26, 2021, he married Lauren M. Fehlan. Craig grew up on a crop-production family farm, where his passion for farming began early. From playing with toy tractors to driving real ones at a young age, Craig considered himself fortunate to live his dream on the family farm. He was active in 4-H and FFA, raising and showing livestock during his youth.

A 2004 graduate of Botkins High School, Craig went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wright State University before returning home. Despite his dedication to farming, Craig’s greatest joy was being a husband and father. He made a concerted effort to be present in his children’s lives, even amid the long hours required by farming.

His children, along with many other young family members, often followed in his footsteps, enjoying tractor rides and other farm activities. As a family, Craig cherished simple moments, such as riding the Gator to check on the cows or savoring the latest meat he had smoked, always followed by ice cream. He was known for his infectious smile and laugh, and his willingness to help anyone in need.
