About James Kent
Jamal James Kent, an American chef, was born. He won the USA Bocuse d’Or in 2010. Later, in January 2011, he and his commis Tom Allan represented the United States at the international Bocuse d’Or finals in Lyon, France, where they placed eighth. Kent started as a summer culinary trainee at Bouley at the age of fifteen. After graduating from college, he worked in a number of New York restaurants, such as Babbo, Jean-Georges, and Gordon Ramsay.
In 2007, Kent began working at Eleven Madison Park as a line cook and soon advanced to the sous chef position. In 2010, he received a promotion to chef de cuisine. During this time, Eleven Madison Park was awarded three Michelin stars, four New York Times stars, and a spot on the San Pellegrino list of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants.
