Dianna’s Cause of Death

The support that our friends, family, and community have given us during this extremely trying time is beyond words. As many of you are aware, Dianna Mitchell had a cardiac event last weekend and is currently being kept on life support at the Halifax hospital. Dianna’s heart had stopped several times before she was taken by life flight. Regretfully, following a battery of tests, we discovered that Dianna’s brain had been depleted of oxygen for too long, resulting in irreversible brain damage. Her family has been enduring excruciating pain and sadness. Dianna was a generous, giving, and compassionate person throughout her life, and she will carry on giving by donating her organs.

She is surrounded by relatives and friends here in Halifax. She and her family have received amazing care. Words cannot tell you how appreciative they are. After everything is in order, Dianna remained on life support and be comforted by loved ones until the donor team came to take her in. Her family is in complete disarray. They have had a lot going on, with ups and downs. Although they know that this will reach the people we care about and the people who care about Dianna, they realize that this may not be the greatest venue to share this. Everyone will be informed as soon as preparations are finalized. Love your people, express gratitude, and treat each other with kindness.
