Death; Joshua Plante, the Fermented Pig owner has died

Joshua Plante, the proprietor of Vienna’s The Fermented Pig, passed away. He was hailed as a devoted leader, a treasured mentor, and a part of the larger Vienna community. The family-run business has been offering charcuterie, bacon, sausage, and handcrafted meats at local farmers markets and online since 2018. Plante ran his own business in Vienna and served as executive chef at Ovations’ The Fermented Pig in Wolf Trap.

He has been providing concertgoers with picnic boxes and a farm-to-table menu. He opened his first physical location at the Settle Down Easy Oakton Tasting Room in Oakton. In the 4,000-square-foot tasting room, he worked with Settle Down Easy Brewing Co. to provide artisanal fresh salads, regional cheeses, charcuterie, and entrées including grass-fed burgers and shrimp and sausage rigatoni.

Dear TFP friends, it is with deep sadness that we share that our founder, Joshua Plante, has died. He was a passionate leader, beloved mentor, and a cherished member of the broader Vienna community. His family expresses their gratitude for your loving thoughts and prayers and request for privacy at this very difficult time. TFP will be closed until further notice – The Fermented Pig
