Robert Chambers, 63, was ejected from his UTV and pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

A 63 Year Old Fort Fairfield Man Died In Crash Involving UTV, Tractor-Trailer: Maine’s Fort Fairfield Following a collision between a UTV and tractor-trailer on Thursday afternoon, a guy from Fort Fairfield died.

According to a notice from the Fort Fairfield Police Department, emergency responders were called to an accident on Presque Isle Street near McShea Siding at around 1:45 p.m. When authorities got to the scene, they saw that Robert Chambers, 63, of Fort Fairfield, had “turned abruptly into the roadway from the shoulder” in an attempt to cross the road to get to the nearby ATV trail. Chambers was operating a 2021 Can-Am UTV south on Presque Isle Street in an area where the local ATV trail uses the public way to connect trails.

According to the police, a loaded 2007 Kenworth tractor-trailer being driven by a 21-year-old New Brunswick resident struck Chambers as he made the bend. It was alleged that the tractor-trailer driver was also traveling south. According to the announcement, Chambers was thrown from the UTV and declared deceased at the scene. Aub-Roy escaped unharmed.

Chambers was not using a seatbelt or a helmet at the time of the collision, according to an accident reconstructionist who arrived on the scene. For almost three hours, Presque Isle Street, sometimes referred to as Route 1A, was closed while the area was examined. According to police, the road is open again as of 6:50 p.m.

The Maine State Police, the Presque Isle Police Department, the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office, and Fort Fairfield Fire Rescue the Maine Department of Transportation, and the Maine State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit assisted.
