Jason Bennett St. Simons Island GA Death, Brunswick Glynn Academy Football Coach has died


Brunswick Glynn Academy Football Coach Jason Bennett of St. Simons Island, Georgia has sadly passed away. He died on Wednesday 5th June 2024 at the age of 50. He was confirmed dead through a post that reads “The Red Terrors’ Football family is saddened to hear of the passing of former Glynn Academy assistant coach, Jason Bennett.” The cause of his death is unknown.

Jason Bennett Education and Career

Jason Bennett was born on March 4, 1974, in Brunswick, Georgia, to Wayne V. Bennett and Jannette Faye McDowell Bennett. He spent his entire life in Brunswick, where he attended Glynn County Schools and graduated from Brunswick High School in the class of 1992. Jason furthered his education at East Tennessee State University before transferring to Valdosta State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.

He then went on to receive a Master’s Degree in Education from Troy University. Professionally, Jason dedicated himself to the field of education. He was employed by the Glynn County Board of Education as a math teacher at Risley Middle School. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Jason also served as an assistant football coach for the Glynn Academy Red Terrors, demonstrating his passion for sports and mentorship.

Outside of his professional life, Jason had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed all kinds of sports, particularly hunting and duck hunting. His enthusiasm for these activities was reflected in his membership with Ducks Unlimited, an organization dedicated to the conservation of wetlands and associated habitats for waterfowl. Jason Bennett’s life was marked by his commitment to education, his love for sports and the outdoors, and his dedication to his community.

Preceded and Survived By

Survivors include his parents; Wayne V. Bennett (Debbie) of St. Simons Island, Jannette F. Rayhon (Cliff) of Waverly, a son, Colton Bennett of St. Simons Island, a brother, Bryan Bennett (Bonnie) of Brunswick, nephews, Waylon and Carson Bennett, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents, Erna McDowell, William C. McDowell, Arthur R. Bennett, Ila Von Bennett, and step-grandfather, Roy Brockman, great grandparents, Bogie & Josie Bennett and Vernon & Mildred Hall.
