Boston College Trustee Kathleen McGillycuddy has sadly passed away. She died on Wednesday 5th June 2024 surrounded by her beloved family. The circumstances surrounding the actual cause of Kathleen McGillycuddy’s death has not been made public. Beloved wife of Ronald E. Logue. Step-mother of Amy Logue and her husband, Matthew Milowsky of Chapel Hill, NC and Emily Logue of Chatham, NY. Sister of Elizabeth Ferrara of Columbus, OH, Eugene McGillycuddy of Dennis and Daniel McGillycuddy of Airmont, NY.
Kathleen McGillycuddy Early Life
Kathleen’s journey from a small town in New York to becoming a trailblazer in Boston’s banking and academic spheres is a testament to her unwavering dedication, leadership, and commitment to service. Born and raised in Suffern, New York, Kathleen’s early years were marked by the values instilled in her by her upbringing and education in parochial schools. However, it was her time at Newton College of the Sacred Heart (later merged into Boston College) where her path towards leadership and service truly began to take shape.
After earning her M.B.A from Babson College, Kathleen embarked on her professional journey in the mid-70s at the Bank of New England, starting in the Treasury department. It was here that she laid the foundation for what would become a remarkable career in the financial services industry. Breaking barriers and defying stereotypes, Kathleen emerged as one of the first women to assume senior roles in Boston banking—a feat she accomplished and sustained for over three decades.

But Kathleen’s impact extended far beyond the boardroom. She generously shared her time, talents, and resources with various academic and medical institutions, leaving an indelible mark on the communities she served. As a Trustee of Boston College for many years, Kathleen played a pivotal role in shaping the institution’s future, eventually making history as the first woman Chair of the B.C. board of trustees—a milestone that underscored her leadership and vision.
In 2002, Kathleen’s dedication to advancing women’s leadership culminated in the founding of the Council for Women of Boston College (CWBC). Through CWBC, Kathleen sought to empower women to become leaders and active participants in the university community, fostering a culture of inclusivity and equality. Her tireless advocacy and mentorship have inspired countless women to pursue their ambitions and break down barriers in their respective fields.

Visiting Hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St., (Rt.16), WELLESLEY, on Thursday, June 13, from 4:00-7:00pm. Her Funeral will be held from the funeral home, on Friday, June 14, at 8:30am, followed by a Funeral Mass, in St. Ignatius Church, Chestnut Hill, at 10:00am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Private Interment in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
