But as of Wednesday afternoon, Bree was nowhere to be found, maybe lost in the violent waves of the Kaweah River. Her friends said that they were seated on a rock when they fell in, according to her relatives. Bree never managed to get away.
“We are going to work nonstop until this little child recovers. According to Lt. Kevin Kemmerling of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office, there are many things we are unable to do but many things we can do because we will never swap a rescuer’s life for a person who has passed away. The Tulare County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Crew, along with other agencies, has been searching the area at the Sequoia National Park entrance since they received the complaint on Tuesday night at around five.
The workers have been battling icy and dangerous floods, with 1,500 cubic feet of water flowing downhill every second. Investigators are positive that Bree’s corpse is not where she fell, now that they are searching downstream. She was within 100 yards of entering a vortex. “If someone is repeatedly swept into a low head dam, they will continue to cycle in the water and have a very tough time getting out. And the reason it’s so complex is because of this particular location,” Matthew Smith explains.
