Maria Eichas Spencerport Death, Alexander Hackett charged after accident in Parma that killed high school student

Maria K. Eichas, a recent graduate of Spencerport High School has sadly passed away. She died after a tragic accident that happened in Parma on Sunday 2nd June 2024. According to Deputy Brendan Hurley of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the tragic collision took place on Burritt Road shortly after 1 a.m. Eichas, who was traveling westbound, was at the wheel of a sport utility vehicle when her vehicle was rear-ended by another car driven by Alexander T. Hackett, 33, of Parma.

Despite efforts to save her, Eichas was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving behind a void that can never be filled. Hackett was charged with second-degree vehicular manslaughter, a felony offense. Although he sustained minor injuries in the crash, Hackett was taken into custody and subsequently arraigned in Parma Town Court. He now faces the full weight of the legal system as the community grapples with the aftermath of this heartbreaking event.
