Noah Ward Death, Lago Vista H student died by suicide on May 22

Noah Ward, Lago Vista High School student died after what the district said was an incident involving a handgun on Wednesday. The Lago Vista Police Department (LVPD) reported that emergency personnel were at the high school, which is situated on Lohman Ford Road, at around 12:15 p.m. The LVPD noted that parents need to refrain from visiting the school till police could furnish further information via notifications.

Noah Ward was identified as the victim. Superintendent Darren Webb stated that anyone in need of therapy and assistance may get it from school counselors and other mental health specialists. On Wednesday afternoon, the school declared a lockdown and began releasing children early.

Just before 1 p.m., or about 45 minutes later, the LVPD reported that just one student was involved in the incident and reaffirmed that there was no current danger on campus. Lago Vista ISD (LVISD) stated that communication has been made with the student’s parents. According to LVISD, the other schools were dismissed at their regularly scheduled hour on Wednesday, but the high school was released early. At around 1 p.m., the district began releasing kids who were riding with student drivers.

According to LVPD, all kids were released around 3:25 p.m., and the situation was secure. Wednesday evening’s after-school activities were all canceled across the district.

On Thursday, May 23, LVISD announced that Lago Vista Middle School, Lago Vista Intermediate School, and Lago Vista Elementary School will resume normal operations. Lago Vista High School will be available to students, but attendance is not required. The district stated that all absences on May 23 will be forgiven, and all remaining final exams will be exempt. Any student who wants to take a final exam “due to the positive impact it may have on their grade” should contact their teacher to make arrangements.
