Sir Julius Chan Passed Away: Why is ‘New Ireland Governor Julius Chan Death’ trending?


New Ireland Governor and senior statesman Rt. Hon. Chief Sir Julius Chan is alive and well. Speaking from Port Moresby this morning, Sir Julius Chan remarked that the relentless spreaders of false information, who cause unnecessary panic among the public, never seem to rest.

He said “These wicked people seem to be working very hard with no rest behind gadgets to spread fake news. This is not the first time and it seems I’ve been resurrected a100th time.”
“As I speak, I’m still holding onto my golden keys to heaven. Someone out there is hellbent to send me to the pearly gates of Heaven.”

Sir J has called on the Department of Information and Communication to investigate and prosecute those behind the fake accounts spreading this fake news.
“Trace and charge those individuals behind these fake accounts. Your days are numbered, the Law will soon catch up with you.”

Who is Sir Julius Chan?

Sir Julius Chan GCL GCMG KBE PC (born 29 August 1939) is a prominent Papua New Guinean politician. He served as Prime Minister from 1980 to 1982 and again from 1994 to 1997. Since 2007, he has been the Member of Parliament and Governor for New Ireland Province. On 26 May 2019, Prime Minister Peter O’Neill announced his intention to resign and expressed a desire for Sir Julius to succeed him, although O’Neill later delayed his resignation. Sir Julius was also a significant figure during the Bougainville conflict.
