Sydney Wilson Reston VA Death, Georgetown University graduate killed by police during welfare check – Celebsity

Sydney Wilson, a resident of Reston, Virginia, and a graduate of Georgetown University has passed away. She was announced dead in a social media post that says “Thank you all for letting me know about Sydney Wilson.

I am so heartbroken and I am going to say no matter what for the rest of my life that as black women we aren’t treated the same. Responding to a mental health crisis with nothing but a gun and a smile should never be our portion.”

The circumstances surrounding Sydney Wilson’s cause of death were not made public by the family at the time of this publication. Meanwhile, according to a social media user, Sydney Wilson was murdered by a police officer during a welfare check.

The statement read “My heart is heavy today. My teammate, someone who should have been safe during a welfare check, was killed by police. I’m tired. Tired of seeing Black people lose their lives in situations that could-and should-be handled without deadly force.”

The statement also read “Why is it that, time and time again, the systems in place to protect us fail to do so? Where is the training to de-escalate, to protect, and to value Black lives? We deserve better.

All of us. Rest in peace Sydney Wilson. This year has been a lot in so many ways. Big Syd, I will never forget you or the injustice that took you from us. Black lives still matter.”
