Teenager charged: A William Fleming High student Dies following gunshot from Peer

The Roanoke Police Department reports that following a shooting at the Ferncliff Apartments in the northwest section of the city early on Wednesday afternoon, one adolescent is dead and another is being charged. Officers from Roanoke Police were dispatched to the 3500 block of Ferncliff Avenue NW at approximately 1:00 p.m. due to reports of a gunshot victim. An adolescent male with severe injuries was located by officers. After being brought to a hospital, he passed away.

Details of the  Incident 

A juvenile kid was taken into custody by Roanoke Police on Wednesday night in relation to the shooting, and he was charged with second-degree murder and using a handgun while committing a crime. The teen was recognized as a suspect early on in the inquiry, according to police detectives. The teenage victim’s enrollment at William Fleming High School was verified by the City Public Schools. His age and name are still unknown.

Due to the incident, the district said that there will be more police present for Friday’s graduation ceremony and practice.
