Thomas Ross Blasdell NY Death: Heather Van Elk and AJ injured in 2-car accident, Markus Genovese of Angola arrested


Blasdell NY:- An 8-year-old boy passed away, and two were injured following a two-vehicle accident on Saturday night in Hamburg. The victims were identified as the mother and her two sons (Heather Van Elk, Thomas Ross and AJ. According to Hamburg Police reports, Thomas Ross also known to many as “Tommy” of Blasdell, New York died while his mother and brother Heather and AJ suffered minor injuries following the Route 5 crash.

How did the crash happen?

Heather Van Elk, 35, of Blasdell, was travelling eastbound on Route 5 when she stopped to turn left onto North Creek Road. Her vehicle was allegedly hit from behind by a car driven by Markus Genovese, 52, of Angola. Genovese reportedly fled the scene but was later found hiding in a nearby backyard. He was taken to ECMC and charged with multiple offences, including driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated by a combination of alcohol and narcotics, first-degree vehicular manslaughter, second-degree vehicular manslaughter, felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of a fatal auto accident, and other vehicle and traffic law violations.

A felony hearing is scheduled for June 13, and Genovese remains held without bail. The road was closed for several hours on Saturday night but has since reopened.
