Thomas “Tom” Volkert Cambridge MA Death: Director of Whitehead Institute Genome Technology Core Passed Away
Cambridge MA:- Tom Volkert, the Director of Whitehead Institute Genome Technology Core has passed away. He was announced dead on Friday. Tom Volkert affectionately known to many as Thomas Volkert of Cambridge, Massachusetts died unexpectedly, according to reports. Tom was a man with a strong will and a quick wit, but many would argue that the most memorable part of Tom was his big heart.
“I ask that you please hold Tom’s family – his wife Angela and their sons – in your thoughts during this difficult time. I will share any information about services, memorials, etc., with the ABRF family as soon as I can. Please feel free to share your thoughts and memories here about Tom.” Tom Volkert’s cause of death is yet to be known to the public. Although her family have confirmed the heartbreaking news.
About Tom Volkert
Tom worked as a Vice President of Genomics and Consultant at the Paratus Sciences. He graduated from Middlebury College where he earned his B.A. in biochemistry. Tom also received his M.S., in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from Tufts University. In the many years since it has been a true privilege to work with Tom as a colleague and as a friend.
While ABRF was founded as a professional society for shared resources, many members consider it to be much more—an extended family of great friends and extraordinary persons. Although Tom was never an ABRF officer or committee chair, he was an important member of the community. He directed the Whitehead Institute’s Genome Technology Core.
