Son of Deer Tracks Junction Founder Tyler Powell of Cedar Springs, Michigan has sadly passed away. He died on Saturday 4th May 2024 at the age of 27 after being involved in a tragic accident.

The incident unfolded on April 19, when emergency responders from Kent County rushed to Deer Tracks Junction Adventure Park in response to a distress call.

Reports indicated that Tyler was atop a ladder within the confines of the giraffe enclosure when a sudden, unforeseen collision with one of the park’s gentle giants caused him to plummet to the ground below. The fall resulted in severe injuries, necessitating immediate medical attention.

Despite the best efforts of medical professionals and the unwavering support of his loved ones, Tyler’s condition remained critical in the ensuing weeks. Friends, family, and well-wishers anxiously awaited updates on his progress, hoping for a miracle that would bring him back from the brink.

However, on a somber Thursday, the Powell family shared the heartbreaking news that Tyler had succumbed to his injuries. The vibrant spirit that had touched the lives of many was extinguished far too soon, leaving behind a void that can never be filled.

Tyler’s passing has cast a pall over Deer Tracks Junction Adventure Park, a place that he had known intimately as the son of its owner. His absence will be keenly felt by all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him, whether as a friend, family member, or fellow adventurer.

He is survived by his loving wife, Caitlin Powell and cherished son, Ben Powell. Tyler was born to proud parents, Kelly and Hilary Powell. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jack Powell and Ben Wierks.

Tyler leaves behind a devoted family, including his parents, Kelly and Hilary Powell; father and mother-in-law, Steven and Diana McClurken; sister-in-law, Elizabeth McClurken; grandmothers, Sharon Wierks and Kerry Peeples; grandfather, Richard Shinew Jr; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
