Xavian Sawyer Lincoln NE Stabbing, Lincoln East 10th grader stabbed to death, 14-year-old arrested – GoFundMe


Lincoln East 10th grader, 16-year-old Xavian Sawyer has tragically passed away. He was announced dead in a statement on GoFundMe that read “With heavy hearts, we reach out to you today to ask your support during this incredibly difficult time. Our dear Xavian was taken from us far too soon in a senseless act of violence. As we struggle to come to terms with this tragic loss, we are faced with the daunting task of arranging his funeral.”

What happened to Xavian Sawyer?

Lincoln Police have identified the 16-year-old victim of this weekend’s stabbing. Xavian Sawyer, a 10th grader at Lincoln East, was stabbed twice in the torso late on Saturday night, according to police. Just before midnight, police received a complaint regarding a brawl at a house close to 64th and Adams Streets. When police discovered Sawyer bleeding from stab wounds, they helped him and took him to the hospital, where they declared him dead.

A fourteen-year-old Lincoln kid was placed under arrest on charges of first-degree murder and using a weapon while committing a crime. The 14-year-old may or may not be tried as an adult; that decision will be made by the county attorney. Lincoln The boys, according to the police, had a previous argument that got out of hand during a get-together at the house. According to the authorities, the victim was not armed, based on the investigation.

Although multiple knives were reportedly found at the scene, it is unknown which of them was used in the murder. Visitation will be at Roper and Sons on 40th and Yankee Hill, on May 28th, 2024, from 12 to 5 pm for family only. For all others 5 to 7pm. Funeral services will be held at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church at 8550 Pioneers Blvd, Lincoln, NE 68520 May 29th at 2pm.
