According to the family, the girl child was a dedicated sister and daughter. Zoey Penny was born with Progeria, a fatal, rapid-aging” disease. According to her mother, Laura Penny, Zoey Aster Penny loved playing dress up.
The trial’s results, which were released in 2012, demonstrated that every child had improved, especially in terms of their cardiovascular system. Subsequent research revealed that the medication used in the clinical helped participants live an extra 1.6 years.
Following their daughter’s diagnosis, Penny and her husband Ian were first introduced to the Progeria Research Foundation by pediatrician Dr. Nancy Mallon.
She had a trouble-free pregnancy with her daughter up until the 38-week ultrasound when the physicians noticed the amniotic sac wall disintegrating and had to induce an early birth.
Zoey started showing strange symptoms during her eight-week checkup, which worried the physicians. After a series of tests conducted over several months, progeria was the diagnosis made.
Zoey was one of eighty kids who were approved for a research trial led by Children’s Hospital Boston and the Progeria Research Foundation in July 2013. She also mentioned that Zoey can compete with her brothers, Aiden, 9, and Gavin, 7 years old, and that she can be a bit of a tomboy at times.
